DR. DAVID R. FLEMMING was interested in medicine from an early age. He attended the University of Oklahoma and then medical school at the University of New Mexico – one of the pioneering institutions in the United States. Multiple papers and books have been written about the problem-based, patient-centered curriculum at the University of New Mexico Medical School. It served as the template for the development of the "5th Pathway" program at Harvard. As well as a similar program at McGill University in Toronto.

It was in his third year in medical school that the young Dr. Flemming opted for urology because of the variety of treat-ment technologies, and the fact that most of his patients – men, women, and children – almost always got better.

His extensive medical and surgical training has always been based on what is best for the patient. And importantly, what is cost- effective. The "new" movement towards quality care and outcomes has been at the forefront of Dr. Flemming’s training and practice for 30 years.

While practicing all facets of urological surgery, he specializes in stone surgery, incontinence, prostate therapy (both benign and malignant), and other cancers. He has access to state of the art equipment including the most modern IMRT facility. He also has specialized training in complicated Pediatric Surgery, Advanced Pelvic Surgery and state of the art surgery for Erectile Dysfunction. He has an active Urologic Surgical Practice at Monterey Peninsula Surgery Centers.
